It has been a long time
It has been a long time since I posted on my blog.
It seems when you commit yourself to one of these things it becomes harder to find things to write about.
I don’t want to get too personal. Nor do I want to be like the commercial for a cellular phone service, you know the one where the dad is sitting on the porch texting that he is sitting on the porch. That one cracks me up because after being on twitter for some time, you actually see these kind of things. Heck I think I might have actually tweeted a couple like that myself.
Since I haven’t posted in some time I guess I can get you back up to speed on the personal life.
For those of you who worry about us, we did take a vacation. Our annual passage to Oshkosh. This was our fourth year in a row.
Oshkosh is like Woodstock for all things aviation.
I posted some pictures http://tinyurl.com/r7gt86 . The first night of AirVenture has been a concert put on by Ford Motor Company.
We waited at front row center for 4 hours before the show started, including a 45 minute rain storm that shut down the airshow that day.
The rain let up just in time and the Doobies put on a great show and I got some great shots. http://tinyurl.com/ktumdt
One of the neatest things was we sat in the same spot last year and met some of the same folks who camped out for the Foreigner concert.
They remembered me because some jerk hopped the barrier fence and pulled a t-shirt out of my hands. He got more than earful until the security guards told us to calm down. Somehow that shirt made its way back to me later in the concert. I gave it to a couple kids who had made their own Foreigner concert shirts.
This year I caught both drumsticks tossed out by Big Mike Hossack and promptly passed them off to some kids.
Rowdy and Molly are as precocious as ever.
I spent a week on Jury duty. It was my first time called and and I was picked to sit on a jury. Probably one of the hardest things I have ever done, it was a tough case. Throughout the trial it was hard to keep the emotions from getting in the way of the facts. In the end, after picking a foreman, the entire jury found the defendant guilty as charged on the first go around vote. After that, with three levels of crimminalty, it was a matter of to what degree we found the defendant guilty. The defendant was young and the victim even younger and I kept looking for ways to find the defendant not guilty. The defense presented little in the way of evidence that would help us come to an innocent verdict. It really put in real life the undeniable fact that our past choices determine the course of our future. The defendant will probably spend the rest of their life in jail as a result of the choices they made.
On the restaurant front we are going through what I refer to as Fall Flux. We hate to see anyone leave but, as people figure out how much they can handle between work and school (and partying), it inevitably happens. Kayla over at our Kalamazoo store has given her notice. She is a sweet kid and a great asset to our team for the last couple years. The challenges of balancing nursing school, work and homework have proven too much and something has to give. As much as we would like to hold on to her, we understand that this is not her career, but that doesn’t mean we don’t wish her the very best for her future. At our Centre St store we have said goodbye to Julia and Chloe they have gone on to schools out of state. They also are missed and we wish them both a wonderful future.
We are headed into the Holiday season and for us that means we are going to really crank things up. The next few months will be busy. We are bringing back the Giant Pumpkin Weight Guess again this year. It seems to be enjoyed by you and our staff. Put on your prestidigitator hat and give it your best guess.
We changed up our Thanksgiving dinner offerings this year. More choices for side dishes and we are working on a source for some local fresh turkeys. We hope you will like what we offer and will order through us and save yourself some hassle. More information is forthcoming in the newsletters and posters.
Black Friday and Procrastinators gift certificate sales and sales are coming up somark your calendars for the (procrastinators, this is optional)
This is turning into a big sales ad so I guess I will stop.
I will try to be more committed to posting. In the meantime check us out on Twitter and Facebook.
